
Understanding the Barriers to Artificial Intelligence (AI) Adoption Within Primary Care: A Novel Model for Acceptance and Resistance
Teresa is a dedicated researcher and experienced professional with a career spanning over two decades in the civil service, the NHS and academia. Her research focuses on the transformative impact of emerging technologies, particularly addressing barriers to their adoption in primary care. Building on her master’s degree in 2020, which explored reducing missed appointments in primary care. Teresa’s current PhD research at the Open University examines the interplay between resistance to change and technology acceptance, with a focus on ensuring innovations like AI promote equity in healthcare access and outcomes
Her professional background includes roles as an IT specialist in a Welsh GP practice and a civil servant for the Department for Work and Pensions. Both positions honed her expertise in systems improvement and stakeholder engagement, always prioritising support for society’s most vulnerable.
Outside her professional work, Teresa has been a Parent Governor with a special interest in Special Educational Needs (SEN). She actively supported the school community by delivering Autism awareness presentations and organising events to ensure SEN children and their families received comprehensive support.
